The Challange

The Goal

Design an app that allows customers to order online in advance from a food truck to save them time and money.

Study Type:

Participants:

5 Participants

Length:

10-15 minutes

Usability Study Findings:

● 3 out of 5 participants wanted a way to customize their orders based on dietary needs and preferences.

● Not all users who needed to customize their orders expressed the same level of concern.

“I would use this app to order food. It's very self explanatory and very easy to use, but I need a way to customize my order because I have some food allergies.”

● 4 out of 5 participants want to be able to order in advance.

● Most participants expressed how convenient it would be and how much time they could save if they could order in advance.

“It would be nice to order online and then show up and get your food 'cause I know some places when there's the food trucks there's super long lines and it takes forever to get your food so just being able to order it ahead of time and then go get it would be nice."

8. Takeaways

Impact:

Our users said the ordering process was easy and intuitive and would use an app like this to order from a food truck.

What I learned:

Creating a food app involves a lot of attention to detail.  It's important to include all the menu items with descriptions and prices.  It's vital to have the cart and checkout buttons working properly so users can complete their order.

9. Next Steps

Conduct additional usability studies on the final app to see if there are any items we overlooked.

Identify any new areas of need and ideate on any additional features.
